Pomnik Wikipedii

Pomnik Wikipedii, pierwszy na świecie monument poświęcony twórcom tej internetowej encyklopedii, został odsłonięty 22 października 2014 roku w Słubicach, przy placu Frankfurckim. Jego inicjatorem był Krzysztof Wojciechowski, dyrektor Collegium Polonicum. Projekt monumentu, stworzony przez Mihrana Hakobjana, ormiańskiego artystę i studenta Collegium, przedstawia cztery postacie – dwie kobiety i dwóch mężczyzn – podtrzymujące charakterystyczną, niedokończoną kulę z puzzli, symbolizującą logo Wikipedii.

Postument, na którym stoją postacie, przypomina stos książek, symbolizując wiedzę. Fundatorem pomnika, który kosztował 62 tys. złotych, był Urząd Miejski w Słubicach, a decyzję o jego powstaniu podjął burmistrz Tomasz Ciszewicz. Pomnik wykonano z laminatu przypominającego mosiądz w kolorze starego złota. Na postumencie umieszczono tablice z inskrypcjami w trzech językach: polskim, niemieckim i angielskim. Uroczystość odsłonięcia poprzedziła sesja naukowa z udziałem przedstawicieli Wikimedia Foundation.
